C-Tran to reduce service on Express routes to Portland

C-Tran plans to reduce service on its Express routes to downtown Portland. Routes 105, 134, 157, 164 and 199 will have fewer daily trips and lower frequency during morning and afternoon commute times, the transit agency announced Friday.

Route 177 will be temporarily suspended. Route 190, which serves OHSU and other nearby facilities, will not be impacted. The changes all take effect Monday. The full modified schedule can be viewed at c-tran.com/service-adjustments.

The transit agency described the changes as a temporary adjustment in response to dwindling ridership. Washington and Oregon have both implemented mandatory stay-at-home orders to combat the COVID-19 outbreak, compelling workers in all nonessential fields to avoid travelling.

Other local and regional bus routes will continue to run on regular schedules.

C-Tran put new procedures in place on all buses earlier this week aimed at slowing the spread of the virus, including requiring all passengers to board through the rear bus doors except wheelchair users and riders with limited mobility. The agency also temporarily suspended fare collection.
