A man who was killed during an officer-involved shooting March 12 in Camas died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to a news release from the Vancouver Police Department.
He was identified Wednesday as 32-year-old Edwin L. Glessner. The police department said that the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the manner of death.
The Camas police officer who fired his weapon during the incident was identified as Steven Forgette, 28. Forgette was hired by the Camas Police Department in November 2015 and is currently assigned to the patrol division. He is also a member of the Southwest Washington Regional SWAT Team, the news release states.
Forgette is on critical incident leave, which is standard department protocol in an officer-involved shooting.
