Dennis Herling, former Hudson’s Bay assistant coach, has been hired as the head football coach for Seton Catholic, athletic director Phil Kent announced Wednesday.

Herling replaces Dan Chase who served as Seton’s interim head coach last season, leading the Cougars to a 4-4 season.

Herling has served as linebackers coach and junior varsity head coach at Hudson’s Bay for the past four years.

Herling is a graduate of Clarkson High School in Nebraska and played one season at Midland University in Nebraska before suffering a career-ending injury. He received his bachelor’s degree from Arizona State in 2015.

Herling is currently working as a counseling intern at Seton Catholic, and he’s working on his master’s degree from Creighton University.

Chase, who is a vice principal at Seton Catholic, will continue to serve on the Cougars’ coaching staff as an assistant.
