Major Crimes Team investigates fatal officer-involved shooting in Camas

The Regional Major Crimes Team is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred Thursday night in Camas.

Officers with the Camas and Washougal police departments responded about 9:15 p.m. to a disturbance call involving a weapon in the area of Northeast Second Avenue and Joy Street.

Upon arrival, they made verbal contact with a man, who was not compliant and had a handgun, according to a news release from the Vancouver Police Department.

A Camas police officer shot the suspect. The man was treated at the scene, before being transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, the news release states.

No further information was released.
