Oregon State Police troopers and emergency personnel responded to a fatal crash Friday evening involving a Vancouver resident on Highway 224 near Southeast Dale Lane, east of Barton, Ore.
According to an Oregon State Police news release, a red Ford pickup truck was traveling eastbound when it crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a white 2014 Ram tow truck.
Police responded to the incident at approximately 11:24 p.m. Friday.
The tow truck was operated by Gary Smith of Portland, with Jennifer Sampson of Vancouver accompanying him as a passenger. Smith and Sampson were transported by ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center for treatment of what were believed to be serious injuries.
The driver of the Ford was pronounced deceased. Police did not disclose the driver’s name because next of kin had not yet been notified.
