Humane Society volunteers nationally recognized

Susan Immer and Larry Juday, foster volunteers at Humane Society for Southwest Washington, were recognized as National Foster Heroes by the Petco Foundation and Skechers’ charity footwear collection in celebration of National Foster a Pet Month.

During their 14 years of service, Immer and Juday devoted over 14,000 hours to volunteering. They fostered more than 215 cats and kittens and provided their expertise as mentors to other foster volunteers. Immer created and leads the HSSW sewing circle, to create and repair shelter bedding for animals. She also lead the charge sewing face masks to keep HSSW staff and volunteers safe during the coronavirus pandemic. Juday serves as a member of the HSSW Long-Term Planning Task Force.

“Susan and Larry are two of our most experienced foster volunteers,” said Sam Ellingson, marketing and outreach manager at HSSW. “They are true Foster Heroes with a passion for helping animals in need. HSSW is grateful for their years of service to the animals.”
