Clark County Public Health confirmed 17 new COVID-19 cases Monday morning.

The addition in cases is almost half the number that was reported June 8, when Public Health confirmed 32 new cases over the weekend.

Clark County has 647 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date and 28 deaths related to the novel coronavirus. No new deaths have been reported in a week.

Case counts are generally highest on Mondays, because Public Health is not reporting COVID-19 numbers on Saturday and Sunday.

Since Friday, Public Health has confirmed one more case in an employee at Pacific Crest Building Supply in Ridgefield. The cabinet manufacturer has had 24 employees test positive for the new coronavirus, with 15 of those employees residing in Clark County.

More than 100 employees have tested negative for the virus, and 29 are awaiting COVID-19 testing or test results.

As counties across Washington loosen physical distancing restrictions, Washington is beginning to see increases in case counts, particularly in Benton, Yakima, Spokane and Franklin counties, according to The Seattle Times.

The growth has worried health officials, and Gov. Jay Inslee said, “cases and deaths will soon increase substantially if COVID-19 continues to spread at the current levels.”

Health officials have urged people to wear masks when they can’t practice physical distancing.

Clark County has seen increases in cases since Memorial Day, but a high majority of those cases are linked to outbreaks at workplaces, not community transmission.

At least 13,788 people have been tested for coronavirus in Clark County, according to Public Health. The county has a 4.5 percent positive testing rate for COVID-19, and has seen close to 100 hospitalizations for the virus since the pandemic began.

There are 11 people hospitalized for the virus in Clark County, up from four people on Friday. The county has 55 percent of its hospital beds occupied right now, according to Public Health data.

Washington has 25,834 confirmed cases, 1,217 deaths, and 3,856 hospitalizations since the start of the pandemic, according to the state Department of Health. The state has a 4.7 percent death rate and 5.6 percent positive testing rate out of 462,602 total tests.
