“Raindrops keep fallin’ on my head, but that doesn’t mean my eyes will soon be turning red, crying’s not for me, ’cause I’m never gonna stop the rain by complaining, because I’m free, nothing’s worrying me.”
With those huge raindrops Saturday afternoon, it reminded me of the song “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head,” and I began singing the lyrics above. I doubt anyone was complaining, because we really needed the rain. In Thursday’s column I mentioned the next incoming bout of rain would likely hold off until after dark Friday. Well, it arrived a few hours earlier.
Between 5 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday, Vancouver’s official rain gauge had nearly an inch of rain but I saw many locations throughout the county with well over an inch. There were some dark, ominous clouds ready to produce a frog strangler. Maybe you had one at your location.
I’m glad I only watered some flower pots, as the rest of our yards got enough for the lawn, garden and even some large shrubs. And guess what? More showers are likely today, and even a thunderstorm.
