How would you rate Monday’s weather? For me on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being ideal, it would have been a 10. Of course, you know me, I enjoy afternoon temperatures in the 70s while many of you enjoy 80-degree-plus weather.
I will say it was a bit on the cool side early in the morning as we dropped to a low of 45 degrees here in Vancouver. I had a few reports closer to 40 degrees and a couple of 39-degree lows in the foothills.
The high Monday in Vancouver was 72 degrees, 1 degree above the average for June 1. That 45-degree low was 7 degrees below the average of 52 degrees. That made a slow start for the vegetable garden but the sun rose higher in the sky and it began to warm enough to make the bees happy.
As long as we are throwing some numbers out there, let’s take a quick look back at May. These are for Vancouver. We had a month with above-average rainfall, believe it or not, thanks to a few bouts of scattered heavy showers. The rain gauge tally was 2.68 inches, .21 of an inch above average. The average mean temperature was 59.7 degrees, 1.5 degrees above normal. We managed to reach 91 degrees on May 28 and dip to 37 degrees on May 4.
