Police and firefighters responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries Wednesday in Vancouver’s Ellsworth Springs neighborhood.

Emergency responders were dispatched at 10:32 a.m. to Southeast Ellsworth Road and 10th Street for a report of a traffic crash.

Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in an email that according to call notes, a gray Jeep Liberty ran a red light and struck a white Hyundai SUV traveling westbound on 10th Street.

The Jeep crashed into the passenger side of the victim’s car, Kapp said. The Jeep Liberty struck a traffic pole; the Hyundai SUV crashed into a power pole.

One of the drivers was rendered unconscious. CPR was performed on one of the occupants while another had to be extricated from the wreck, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.

Kapp said there is no indication in the call notes that the injuries were life-threatening.

However, responders relayed that the crash caused serious injuries, and a total of three ambulances were called to the scene. All three people were being taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

Traffic in the area was impacted for a short time. Police are continuing to investigate.
