The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington announced Thursday its first set of 2020 Focus Grants benefiting 22 organizations serving Southwest Washington. The $501,862 in grants included $351,862 directed to Clark County organizations.

The grants aim to disrupt the local cycle of intergenerational poverty through basic human needs, educational attainment and asset building. Recipients include Family Solutions, which will work with youth and families unable to access care as a result of being uninsured or underinsured; Ready to Rise, which plans to help high school seniors navigate the transition to higher education; and the Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber, which aims to increase the business revenue and long-term wealth of its Technical Assistance Program participants through personal counseling.

“Our hope is that these grants allow all people in Southwest Washington to access and benefit from the prosperity of our region,” Jennifer Rhoads, president of the Community Foundation, said in a news release. “Only then will we unlock the true potential of a vibrant and engaged community.”

The Community Foundation opened its second 2020 Focus Grants funding cycle. Interested organizations can visit cfsww.org or email grants@cfsww.org for more information. Awards will be announced in December.
