I think everyone will like the weather the next several days, especially those that enjoy the warmer temperatures of summer. We will be in the 80s today and upper 80s to near 90 degrees Monday and Tuesday. The rest of the week, temperatures drop near normal and a couple of degrees cooler perhaps.
The “hot spell” will be short-lived this go-around, so it’s stay in the shade for some, full sunshine for others. Coastal weather will be in the 65- to 70-degree range with areas of fog during night and morning hours. An onshore flow of air will bring clouds at times and cooler weather locally Wednesday through Saturday. Still no significant rain heading our way, as it should be this time of the year.
I was driving east on Highway 14 near Camas on Thursday, and Mount Hood really stood out with a nice contrast of white snow. Picture perfect for July. Vancouver is still running 1 degree cooler than average for the month. We have had three days in the 60s, nine days in the 70s and six days in the 80s. Will we add a 90-degree high temperature Monday or Tuesday? If so, it will be the first one this month.
Normally we wouldn’t get too excited about rainfall in June, but as you know last month was far from seasonable. Let’s review some rainfall from your friends and neighbors for June. Claudia Chiasson, Carson, 4.06 inches; Rob Starr, Cougar, 7.23 inches; Robin Ruzek, Lake Shore, 3.01 inches; Tyler Mode, Battle Ground, 4.11 inches; Ellen Smart, Ridgefield, 3.80 inches; Bob Mode, Minnehaha, 4.19 inches; Jim Knoll, Five Corners, 4.30 inches; Chuck Houghten, Hockinson Heights, 5.99 inches; Irv St. Germain, Prune Hill, 3.76 inches; Larry Lebsack, Barberton, 4.19 inches; Murphy Dennis, Rawson Road, 5.36 inches; and Judy Darke, Felida, 3.27 inches. Our friend, Roland Derksen of Vancouver, B.C., measured 2.87 inches. The official rainfall for Vancouver USA was 3.40 inches, 1.61 inches above average. Previously, May was a little above average but April was the driest April in at least 26 years.
Enjoy the warmth and be safe. We’ll chat on Tuesday.
