The American Red Cross seeks volunteers in preparation for the Northwest wildfire season. Shelter help volunteers will help staff with reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information collection and other vital tasks. Those with medical training are needed to serve as health services support, including daily observation of shelter residents and health screening for COVID-19-like illness. Student nurses, certified home health aides and others with medical experience are needed to provide care as delegated by a licensed nurse in shelters, including assisting with activities of daily living, personal assistance services, providing health education and helping to replace medications, durable medical equipment or consumable medical supplies.
