WASHOUGAL — A new permit center has opened in Washougal.
The center is at 211 39th St., inside the former East County Fire & Rescue Station 95. The city Community Development Department, along with some Public Works staff, has relocated to the center, according to a news release from the city.
Residents can go to the center for development review needs, such as building permits, planning reviews and development engineering. Staff can also assist with zoning and code compliance matters.
The 5,215-square-foot facility provides enough space to meet state guidelines during the COVID-19 outbreak, according to city officials. By appointment only during Phase 2 of the state’s reopening plan, staff is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.
To reach the permit center, dial 360-835-8501 and press 1, or visit cityofwashougal.us/communitydevelopment.
The city purchased the building with $335,000 of general fund money. City officials have also left open the possibility of using the center as a fire station again in the future.
