The body of a missing kayaker from Vancouver was recovered at Diamond Lake in Oregon Thursday morning.
Jared Bruce Boria, 37, was located in the lake following an extensive search, according to a Douglas County, Ore., Sheriff’s Office news release. He went missing late last month after taking his kayak onto the lake in Southern Oregon.
Dispatchers received reports around 10:20 p.m. June 30 about a man yelling for help from the lake’s waters, according to the sheriff’s office.
Responding deputies determined that Boria had been camping at the Diamond Lake Campground. Shortly before the 911 calls, Boria had put his kayak in the water and paddled out onto the lake. He was not wearing a life jacket at the time, according to the sheriff’s office.
