While more changes could very well be in store for the 2020 high school football season, one Clark County team has already adjusted its Week 1 opponent.

Union will now open the 2020 season with a road game against O’Dea of Seattle, the 2019 Class 3A state runner-up.

The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, most likely at O’Dea’s home field of West Seattle Stadium.

Both Union and O’Dea had been scheduled to play out-of-state opponents in Week 1. But concerns about travel in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak led both schools to alter their schedules.

Union was originally scheduled to open the 2020 season with a road game against Campo Verde High of Gilbert, Arizona. O’Dea was slated to host Bishop Amat High of La Puente, Calif., near Los Angeles.

The game will be the first matchup between the Titans and Irish. O’Dea beat Kelso 35-0 in the first round of the state playoffs last season. The last time O’Dea played a Clark County team was in 2017 when the Irish beat Skyview 38-7.

Union went 6-5 last season, falling to Lake Stevens 28-21 in the first round of the 4A state playoffs.
