A man told police that he was injured Monday night when an unknown man stabbed him on his doorstep in the Dubois Park neighborhood in central Vancouver.

Vancouver police officers were dispatched about 7 p.m. to the 4700 block of East Evergreen Boulevard for a report of an assault with a weapon.

The victim told police he answered his door, and a random assailant stabbed him in the leg and ran off, Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in an email. His wound was not life-threatening, Kapp said.

The victim said the man who stabbed him was wrapped in a blanket but that he was otherwise unable to give a description, Kapp said.

Detectives are investigating.
