Clackamas too much for Clark hoop teams

The highly ranked Clackamas men’s and women’s basketball teams added to the Clark College losing streaks with a pair of NWAC South division victories on Wednesday night at Oregon City.

MEN: CLACKAMAS 70, CLARK 60 — The Penguins (8-10, 1-5 NWAC South) led by six points at 53-47 with 7:55 to play then the No. 2-ranked Cougars (17-1, 6-0) went on a 13-0 run to put the game away.

It was the Penguins’ fourth straight loss.

Dylan Hushaw had 21 points and nine rebounds for Clark. Union High grad Ethan Smith had nine points, and King’s Way Christian grad Matt Garrison had eight points and seven rebounds.

WOMEN: CLACKAMAS 67, CLARK 53 — Jodi Thomasian had a big game for the Penguins with 18 points and 13 rebounds in the loss to No. 4 Clackamas.

Clark (4-12, 0-6) has lost eight in a row, while Clackamas (15-2, 5-1) is 9-1 in its last 10 games.

UP NEXT: The Clark teams host Lane on Saturday to complete the three-game week. The women are scheduled to tip off at 2 p.m. followed by the men at 4 p.m. at the O’Connell Sports Center on the Clark campus.
