Specialty cake baking company Simply Sweets is moving from its downtown Vancouver storefront at 607 Washington St. to a new home at 3100 Columbia St., in the Carter Park neighborhood.

An announcement on the business’s Facebook page in December said the move would happen after the first of the year, with an opening at the new location targeted for the beginning of February. The post said the owners have big plans for the new space, including “seating, retail space, outside events, classes and our kids play area.”

This is the company’s third move since its founding. In 2013, it moved from Vancouver Mall to a near-downtown location at 316 E. Mill Plain Blvd., and then by mid-2015, moved to downtown Vancouver. The new Carter Park corner site has been home to a number of stores and restaurants over the years, most recently Marcell’s Pie House.
