Clark comeback falls short against Linn-Benton

The Clark College men’s basketball team nearly erased a first-half deficit, but fell to Linn-Benton 70-63 on Monday at O’Connell Sports Center.

Linn-Benton (7-11, 1-4) ended the first half on an 11-2 run to take a 36-26 lead.

Clark (8-9, 1-4) clawed within 46-45 with 8:15 to play. The game was close until the final minute, when Linn-Benton went 9 for 10 from the free throw line.

Dylan Hushaw, Ethan Smith and Bradley Bickler each scored 12 points for the Penguins.

WOMEN: LINN-BENTON 73, CLARK 41 — Jodi Thomasian scored 17 points, but the Penguins could not overcome cold shooting Monday in a home loss.

Clark (4-11, 0-5) shot 14 for 52 from the field (26.9 percent) and had 15 turnovers.

Marri-Anna Martinez came off the bench to score a team-high 16 points for Linn-Benton (13-5, 2-3).
