The Port of Camas-Washougal has been named as a recipient of investment funding from the Washington State Community Economic Revitalization Board. The port will receive a $1,224,742 loan and a $216,131 grant to fund its Building 20 project, which will have a 50,000-square-foot metal pre-fab warehouse constructed in the port-owned Steigerwald Commerce Center.
The grant and loan are matched by $5,559,127 in federal and local funds.
The building will be divided into multiple bays for potential tenants, according to port Director of Operations Kim Noah.
No tenants are currently lined up, but the port expects the building to be mostly leased by the time it’s ready to open, based on experience with previous Steigerwald projects, she said. Building 20 will most likely break ground in the spring of 2021 and be completed later that year, she said.
The revitalization board grants and loans are issued to counties or local agencies. They finance projects that will spur economic development, public infrastructure development or rural broadband development. The port was one of three recipients of the current funding round, along with Lincoln County and Whitman County, for a total investment amount of $1,974,742 in loans and $503,631 in grants.
