Letter: Influencing young lives

By Richard, Patty, Patrick, John and Wilson Keller, Vancouver
Published: January 17, 2020, 6:00am

Wyatt Stayner’s article about the remarkable Laurie Burpee was poignant and put her inimitable grace and kindness on display for others in the Vancouver community to see (” ‘Kindness is her way,’ “ The Columbian, Jan. 10).

We would like to add to the record that Laurie has had an equally huge impact on the lives of hundreds of Boy Scouts from Troop 648 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church over the last decade. Laurie served as advancement coordinator and communications director for our troop for many years, some of which were after her son Alec had already achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and aged out. Laurie always served with a smile, and we are so grateful for all she did on our behalf.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
