The deadline to nominate someone for the Marshall Adult and Youth Leadership Awards has been extended to Jan. 31.
The awards honor Gen. George C. Marshall, the former Vancouver Barracks commander who won the Nobel Peace Prize for his work as secretary of state in the Truman administration. The awards recognize locals who have demonstrated leadership, civic engagement and commitment to public service. The program is a joint effort of the city of Vancouver and The Historic Trust.
One high school senior and one adult younger than 35 years old will be selected for each award. Applications from nominees are now due Feb. 7. For more information about the nomination process and criteria, visit www.thehistorictrust.org/marshall-awards.
The winners will be announced at the Marshall Award Ceremony and Dinner on March 19 at WareHouse ’23 in Vancouver.
