State Rep. Paul Harris, R-Vancouver, will hold an “open mic” event Monday to hear from constituents in the 17th Legislative District.

The event will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Firstenburg Community Center, 700 N.E. 136th Ave., one week before the Jan. 13 start of the 2020 legislative session.

“This is a crucial session with several critical issues on the agenda that will impact all of us,” Harris said in a statement. “The ongoing transportation and traffic problems in Southwest Washington, the fate of the car tab initiative (I-976) and the I-5 Bridge replacement are very important.

“However, I know there are many other significant issues, including health care, homelessness and taxes,” he added. “I want to know what issues truly matter to our local citizens.”

Harris said Monday’s event provides an opportunity for constituents to share what’s on their minds.

“We can’t solve every problem in a day,” he said in his statement. “But we can come together, listen to each other with open minds and work together to improve Vancouver.”
