All that glitters is green for Evergreen Public Schools, with school board members on Tuesday announcing the name of their new school: Emerald Elementary School.
The new school, at Northeast 162nd Avenue and Northeast 39th Street, is scheduled to open in September with 500 students who currently attend Burnt Bridge Creek, Harmony and Pioneer elementary schools.
The board also voted to rename 49th Street Academy, the district’s therapeutic day school. It will be renamed Hollingsworth Academy when its new facility moves to Northeast 164th Avenue and Northeast Ninth Street.
Both names were selected with input by students.
Both schools are part of the district’s $695 million bond package, which voters approved in February 2018.
