Vancouver-based Columbia Nutritional, a nutritional supplement manufacturer and distributor, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Feb. 6.
The filing comes after the company laid off 34 employees, 29 who worked in Vancouver, over the past two years to restore profitability, according to a news release from the company. It now employs 74 people.
Part of the financial trouble came after the company expanded operations into Ohio, according to a statement from Columbia Nutritional. The company has closed the Ohio plant.
When asked about additional layoffs, a spokesperson wrote in an email that “the company has already made the staff changes called for in the restructuring plan.”
