Vancouver firefighters rescued a dog from a burning house Saturday morning in the Sunnyside neighborhood.
At 8:59 a.m., the Vancouver Fire Department responded to the two-story house at 11020 N.E. 87th St. and were told that people were still inside. However, firefighters found no one was home except for a dog, which was in a closed room away from the fire, said fire Capt. Pete Adams, public information officer for the agency.
The dog was carried out of the house and given to a neighbor before being united with its owners later in the day. It was uninjured and didn’t require medical attention. The news of an animal rescue comes one day after three dogs and two cats were killed in a house fire Friday in Salmon Creek.
Adams said the fire on Northeast 87th Street caused significant damage and the house is uninhabitable. The occupants found other lodging, he said.
Twenty-five firefighters tackled the fire, which is being investigated by the Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office.
