The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington granted more than $1.3 million to local nonprofit groups and schools in Clark, Cowlitz and Skamania counties in 2019, the foundation said in a news release.
Most of the grants were aimed at disrupting the cycle of intergenerational poverty through educational attainment, basic human needs and asset building.
Among the Clark County beneficiaries were the Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce for a program helping business owners with accounting, technology, marketing and management; Share received funds for a program that helps people build personal wealth through savings accounts and financial literacy.
