WASHOUGAL — Washougal will dedicate a new piece of public art in early March.
“Dreaming,” a bronze sculpture of a friendly bear sitting upright, was installed in late January at the corner of A Street and Pendleton Way. The Washougal Arts and Culture Alliance will host a dedication at 1 p.m. March 7 at the site of the sculpture, according to the alliance. A reception will follow at 2 Rivers Bar and Grill, 1700 Main St., Suite 110, Washougal.
Heather Soderburg of Cascade Locks, Ore., created the sculpture, one of three that she has contributed to the city. The two other pieces are Seaman the Newfoundland dog at Reflection Plaza and Chak the eagle at Washougal Waterfront Park. The bear sculpture, valued at $30,000, is one of numerous art installations that have appeared in Washougal.
