Evergreen’s Zablotovskii is top qualifier in 3A 50 freestyle

Evergreen’s Ilia Zablotovskii put himself in solid position to challenge for a state championship at the 3A boys swimming state meet in Federal Way.

Zablotovskii qualified first in the 50-yard freestyle (21.19 seconds) and second in the 100 freestyle (45.82) in Friday’s preliminary heats.

Mountain View’s Christian Madden also advanced to Saturday’s championship finals in two events, seeding fifth in the 200 freestyle (2:06.23) and sixth in the 500 freestyle (4:46.26).

Mountain View’s 200 medley relay team qualified eighth.

In the 2A meet, Columbia River’s Liam Noftsker is the No. 3 seed in the 100 freestyle (48.44) and 100 backstroke (53.68). Hockinson’s Alex Wendler made a five-second time cut to qualify fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.72). Mark Morris’ Kodee Soetamin advanced fifth in the 50 freestyle (22.36), and River’s Simon Parish qualified eighth in the 200 individual medley.

Columbia River’s 400 free relay advanced in fourth, and its 200 medley relay qualified fifth.

In the 4A meet, Camas’ Jaden Kim was the No. 2 qualifier in the 100 butterfly (50.36).

Camas’ David Peddie qualified sixth in the 500 free (4:42.28), Union’s Tony Kajino qualified seventh in the 100 backstroke (53.32) and Union’s Val Tikhomirov qualified eighth in the 100 breaststroke (58.38).

Camas sent all three of its relays into the championship finals, qualifying fifth in the 200 medley, sixth in the 200 free and eighth in the 400 free.
