PORTLAND — Portland railcar manufacturer Gunderson has furloughed 125 employees over the past month, the latest in a string of Oregon employers cutting jobs this year.
Gunderson is scaling back amid a prolonged downturn in demand, said Jack Isselmann, vice president for external affairs at Gunderson’s parent, The Greenbrier Cos.
About 75 employees from the railcar division have transferred to Gunderson’s marine division. Altogether, Gunderson now has 725 Portland employees making railcars and barges.
