A pickup stolen in Vancouver was involved in a hit-and-run crash that injured a Portland police officer early Monday morning, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

A statement from the police bureau said an officer was on a routine patrol shortly after midnight when a Ford F-350 pickup crashed into the passenger side of his patrol vehicle at the intersection of Southeast Second Avenue and Southeast Morrison Street. The officer was hospitalized with injuries not believed to be life threatening.

The driver of the pickup ran from the scene and eluded a search by police and a K-9 team. Investigators discovered that the pickup had been reported stolen in Vancouver on Feb. 1.

A description of the pickup’s driver was not released.

Portland police ask anyone with information about the incident to call the bureau at 503-823-3333 and reference case number 20-54823.
