Responders were dispatched to Ridgefield on Tuesday night for reports of a fire on a train, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.
Firefighters responded at 6 p.m. to the intersection of Mill Street and North Railroad Avenue for a commercial fire.
Dispatchers said that a woman reportedly started a fire on a train before getting off, according to the radio traffic. Fire crews determined that it was a cigarette discarded in a trash can.
The first arriving crew said only smoke was visible — there was no fire by the time they reached the train. Firefighters helped ventilate the train, according to the radio traffic.
