The Hawks snapped their five-game losing streak to clinch a playoff spot with a victory on Senior Night over the Monarchs.

Micah Paulsen scored a career-best 36 points, carrying the Hawks to the No. 4 seed out of the 2A Greater St. Helens League. Hockinson faces Black Hills, the 2A Evergreen Conference champion, at 7 p.m. Saturday to begin districts.

Paulsen not only was 7 of 8 from 3-point range Tuesday, but also was 7 of 9 from the free-throw line.

Hockinson hadn’t won a game in the second half of league play until Tuesday.

“When we needed it most,” coach Jon Warner said, “they played their best basketball. I couldn’t be more proud of them.”

Ki Haden added 13 for the Hawks.
