Two passengers died in a Sunday morning, one-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 5 in Ridgefield. The driver is facing vehicular homicide and felony hit-and-run charges.

Alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, according to a news release from the Washington State Patrol.

At about 2:20 a.m., Luis A. Perezsalinas, 25, was driving a 2011 Ford Fusion eastbound on South 11th Street in Ridgefield with three passengers, Aristeo Alejopable, 31, Margarito Alejopable, 43, and Josue B. Gonzalez, 23.

As the car approached the intersection of South Timm Road, Perezsalinas failed to stop at a stop sign and drove the car off an embankment, according to the news release. The car flipped and came to rest on its top on Interstate 5 southbound.

Both Aristeo Alejopable and Margarito Alejopable died at the scene, according to the news release. It’s unknown if any passengers were wearing seatbelts.

Perezsalinas and Gonzalez were both taken to a local hospital. Gonzalez’s condition is unknown as of Sunday morning.

Police booked Perezsalinas into the Clark County Jail on Sunday morning. He faces two counts of vehicular homicide DUII, one count of felony hit-and-run, and one count of driving without a license.

Troopers shut down the southbound lanes of the highway until about 6 a.m.
