Motorcyclist in the hospital after crashing into a car in east Vancouver

A man is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after he crashed his motorcycle into a car Sunday on Southeast 164th Avenue, according to a news release from the Vancouver Police Department.

The 38-year-old man was riding south on Southeast 164th Avenue at 2:47 p.m. As he approached the intersection of Southeast 15th Street, he attempted to stop at a red light and lost control of the motorcycle. He crashed into a car that was driving west on Southeast 15th Street through the intersection of Southeast 164th Avenue.

Speeding was a factor in the crash, according to the news release.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital. His identity has not yet been released.

The driver of the car remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.

Police closed the southbound lanes of Southeast 164th Avenue and also 15th Street.

The Vancouver Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating the crash, according to the news release.
