RIDGEFIELD — First-grade students at South Ridge Elementary School recently participated in the Flat Stanley project. Spearheaded by school librarian Emily Crawford, “Flat Stanley” is a series of books about Stanley Lambchop, a boy who was squashed by a bulletin board and goes on adventures. The first-graders made their own Flat Stanleys by coloring paper and mailed them to friends and relatives, who took photos of Flat Stanley in different places. The paper character traveled to 12 states, making appearances at a ranch, a zoo, a vineyard, a plane in Alaska, a television show and an NFL game. Crawford compiled all 27 of the Flat Stanley adventures into a book for the students. “Flat Stanley Adventures: Volume 1” by Crawford’s first-grade class is available at the South Ridge library, and each student received their own copy.
