Navy Seaman Anna Tomic of Vancouver has been honored as the Bluejacket of the Quarter aboard USS Constitution, the world’s oldest commissioned warship. The Bluejacket of the Quarter award marks an outstanding dedication to duty and superior performance going above and beyond a sailor’s assigned job.

“Winning this award means I did exactly what the secretary of the Navy asked his sailors to do: to be an inspiration to those that come after you and to ensure they too may feel empowered,” Tomic said in a recent press release. “When you feel empowered, respected and heard, you can do anything.”
