SALMON CREEK — Capt. Clint Greeley at Clark County Fire District 6 decided to put his artistic skills to work when he saw a blank wall at the new Salmon Creek fire station. He decided to create a mural that also reminds his co-workers of the dangers of the job. Greeley found a blurry image of a firefighter fighting a blaze and selected it as the image to paint on a 15-foot-tall staircase wall. “Our members have to pass by it every time they start a new shift,” Greeley said in a news release. “This is a reminder not only of the dangers we face every day but the responsibility we have to our community.” In the painting, there is an air bottle — a self-contained breathing apparatus — with the number 343 on it, which stands for the number of firefighters who died on Sept. 11, 2001, in New York City.
