Clark County reports 333 new COVID-19 cases, no new deaths, since Friday

Public Health data works out to an average of 111 new cases a day over the three-day period

Clark County reported 333 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths since Friday, according to Monday data from Clark County Public Health.

The new cases average out to 111 new cases per day over the three-day period and push the county’s total number of COVID-19 cases to 11,971, according to Public Health data.

There were 57 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Clark County, up from 54 on Friday, and two people were hospitalized awaiting test results, down from nine on Friday. The number of active cases, a statistic that tracks people with COVID-19 who are still contagious and in their isolation period, was 860 on Monday, down from 930 on Friday.

The number of confirmed and suspected deaths from COVID-19 held steady at 135 to date over the weekend, according to Public Health. Eight deaths were attributed to COVID-19 last week, with the most recent death reported Friday.

Public Health data shows that the largest number of deaths associated with COVID-19 have been among people age 80 or older, accounting for 70 total deaths, followed by people in their 70s, with 33 deaths; people in their 60s, with 20 deaths; people in their 50s, with six deaths; people in their 30s, with four deaths; and people in their 40s, with two deaths. No deaths have been reported in anyone younger than age 30.

Confirmed death: COVID is listed as cause of death or contributing factor on the death certificate and the case has a positive COVID test.  

Suspect death: COVID is not listed as a contributing factor on the death certificate (but wasn’t ruled out as cause of death) and the person died after testing positive for COVID within 28 days.

The disease has been more lethal for men than women since the pandemic began. Public Health reported 76 deaths from COVID for men and 58 for women in Clark County. The gender of one fatality was not known.
