PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center will administer the first COVID-19 vaccinations in Clark County Wednesday.

The vaccine will be given to PeaceHealth Southwest staff who are working with patients who have tested positive for COVID-19. In a news release Tuesday afternoon, PeaceHealth Southwest said it has received 4,000 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

The doses will be distributed to PeaceHealth caregivers at its Vancouver hospital Wednesday beginning around 9 a.m. Staff at PeaceHealth St. John in Longview will receive the vaccine on Thursday morning.

Due to limited vaccine supply, PeaceHealth is prioritizing the vaccine for staff who work with coronavirus patients, as well as other high-risk care providers.

As more vaccine doses become available, PeaceHealth will begin to inoculate more staff.

PeaceHealth Southwest intends to provide livestream coverage of the first vaccinations on facebook.com/peacehealthsw Wednesday and facebook.com/StJohnMedical on Thursday.

Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center and The Vancouver Clinic expect to receive vaccine doses in the coming weeks.
