As we head toward the midpoint of the month, the weather remains less than exciting, at least for us weather watchers. I had a few reports from our observers of winter snow falling Friday, but not really sticking much. Murphy Dennis on Rawson Road had big puffy flakes while Bill Sobolewski on Livingston Mountain posted a video on Facebook of a light steady snow falling through the towering Douglas fir trees.
Oh yes, we are getting close to the coldest period of the winter, and snowfall in our close by foothills will be commonplace at times. Farther up in elevation, snow was sticking at 1,500 feet early Saturday morning — and did you notice the nice mantle of white on the upper foothills to our east Saturday?
Meanwhile here in the lowlands, the rain was on the chilly side and at times had a rain/snow mix that I call chunky rain and reported to me by my daughter Sara Miller of Felida. Did you see any wet snowflakes hitting your windshield Friday?
Looking down the road I do not foresee any snow here at city levels in the next week or 10 days. Boy, that gets us pretty close to Christmas. I have a feeling La Nina may greet us around the new year with a tease or two of snow falling locally.
