Weather Eye: Enjoy remaining days of summer with pleasant, fair weather

With our current stable weather pattern there is certainly no news to report. Fair weather until further notice with highs between 80 and 85 degrees for the next week at least. Vancouver’s high Monday was 81 degrees, which is exactly average for the date. Even the low of 56 degrees was almost on the mark as well.

Within the realm of weather there is always a possibility of bad news but as they say, no news is good news. Prayers and good thoughts for our Americans having to face back-to-back tropical storms or hurricanes coming from the Gulf of Mexico.

The recent excessive heat wave in California has been devastating with thunderstorms as one cause of the many wildfires.

Meanwhile, we lounge around in the last hazy lazy days of summer here in the great Northwest. If you have any travel plans, the coast is clear, literally. It’s a good time to get outside projects accomplished.

I see the annual arrival of almanacs with their winter weather predictions have hit the racks, so I’ll take a look at those soon. There is the possibility of a La Nina winter for us and that can bring surprises. Have you seen any woolly bear caterpillars yet? They should be out and about near a woodland near you.

Usually I’m talking about how hot it is going to be now and the return to school for the kids. Well, no hot weather and no in-school attendance either. Crazy times.

Enjoy the pleasant remaining days of summer and the lack of any weather extremes for us. Be safe.
