COVID-19 claims two Clark County women; 50 new cases reported over weekend

Two Clark County women died from COVID-19 over the weekend, according to Clark County Public Health, which reported 50 new cases in the latest numbers reported Monday.

The two deaths were a woman in her 70s with underlying conditions and a woman in her 80s with underlying conditions, according to Public Health. Their deaths bring the county’s total to 47. Twenty-seven of Clark County’s 47 novel coronavirus deaths have been people age 80 or older.

The 50 new cases was the smallest number of new cases reported on a Monday since July 27. The count works out to an average of about 16.7 new cases over the weekend.

The county has recorded 2,435 cases of COVID-19 to date. As of Saturday, Washington had reported 71,012 cases and 1,863 deaths.

As of Monday, 17 people were hospitalized in Clark County with COVID-19, down from 20 reported Friday, and 11 people were hospitalized awaiting test results, up from four Friday.
