A Ridgefield woman was involved in a four-vehicle crash that killed an Oregon woman Tuesday south of Madras, Ore. Her condition was not immediately known.

Oregon State Police troopers and emergency personnel responded shortly after 1:30 p.m. to the multivehicle crash on Highway 97 near Milepost 100 in Jefferson County.

According to troopers, the preliminary investigation found that northbound traffic was stopped for a vehicle making a left turn onto Southwest Bear Drive. A northbound Volvo tractor-trailer, operated by Inderjit Sign, 57, of Yuba City, Calif., struck the back of a stopped Toyota RAV 4, driven by Rebecca Martinez, 36, of West Linn, Ore.

The tractor-trailer then crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a BMW, driven by 39-year-old Renee Connors of Ridgefield, and a Volvo, driven by Nadia Rankov Adams, 52, of Redmond, Ore., troopers said.

Rankov Adams was pronounced dead at the scene.

Several people were taken to area hospitals with various injuries, according to Oregon State Police.

The agency was assisted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson County Fire & Rescue and Oregon Department of Transportation.
