Two people are expected to survive injuries suffered in a crash involving a car and dump truck Monday morning in the Orchards area.
Vancouver Fire Department crews were dispatched shortly before 7:30 a.m. to the collision at Padden Parkway and 152nd Avenue.
Upon arrival, crews found a car with its passenger side ripped off, resting against a fence at a 30 degree angle, as well as a dump truck in the westbound lanes.
The truck was hauling about 70,000 pounds of dirt, according to a fire department news release.
An extra fire engine, battalion chief and second ambulance were called to the scene.
A woman was helped from her heavily damaged vehicle by placing a backboard in the car. She was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. The dump truck driver was also taken to a local hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries, the news release says.
The dump truck driver had assisted the woman until medical crews arrived, according to the fire department.
The westbound lanes were covered in dirt; fire crews closed the outside lane for about an hour.
Washington State Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
