Two women in their 80s — both with underlying health conditions undetermined — died of COVID-19 over the weekend, according to Clark County Public Health.

The two new deaths bring Clark County’s death toll since early March to 45.

Public Health also reported 80 new novel coronavirus cases since its last report Friday‚ which works out to an average of just under 27 each day. To date, 2,299 people have tested positive for the disease in the county.

Of Clark County’s 45 deaths, 28 have been men and 17 are women. More than half the deaths — 26 — have been among people in their 80s, though that age group makes up only 4.15 percent of cases in the county as of Aug. 12.

Currently there are 22 people hospitalized for COVID-19, with four more hospital patients waiting on tests. Clark County’s hospital beds are 59.2 percent occupied, 4.1 percent with COVID-19 patients or cases waiting on tests.

Statewide, there are 67,461 confirmed cases of the disease and 1,781 deaths.
