The Washington State Department of Transportation is hosting an online survey to gather community input about the future of the northbound Interstate 5 bridge over the East Fork of the Lewis River. The bridge is located at the north end of Clark County, about 3 miles south of Woodland.
The northbound steel truss span is 84 years old and is listed as structurally deficient, according to WSDOT, and the agency is in the early stages of designing a replacement. The $65.2 million project is scheduled to begin construction in the fall of 2022.
A portion of Paradise Point State Park is located directly underneath the northbound span and will be closed during the multiyear construction project. Washington State Parks plans to take advantage of the closure to make repairs and possibly add upgrades to the park, according to WSDOT.
