A man wanted in connection with a homicide in Portland fatally shot himself Thursday evening during a standoff with police in Hazel Dell.
The man, who has not been identified, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to a news release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
Portland Police Bureau detectives were investigating a homicide following the shooting of two people Wednesday near Northeast 115th Avenue and Northeast Sandy Boulevard. The homicide victim was identified as 24-year-old James Richard Greenwood. The other shooting victim, who has not been identified, is expected to survive, police said in a news release.
On Thursday, Portland detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the shooting suspect and learned he worked in Vancouver. The suspect was located in an industrial area near Northeast 78th Street and Northeast 19th Court, where he worked, the news release states.
