The National Weather Service is warning that dangerously hot conditions are possible this weekend, with highs between 96 and 102 on both Saturday and Sunday.
Problems with the high temperatures will be compounded by very warm evenings, with overnight lows in the 60s and possibly near 70 degrees in urban centers, according to an excessive heat watch issued Thursday morning.
“Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities,” according to the weather service statement.”Warm overnight low temperatures will provide little relief in structures without air conditioning.”
The hot temperatures come as numerous lakes a have been declared off-limits due to poor water conditions, including Round Lake, Lacamas Lake and Falling Leaf Lake, according to Clark County Public Health.
